Goodbye North Metro Tech.

December 30, 2008 at 9:50 pm (Uncategorized)

Sunday was our last worship experience at North Metro Tech. I would be lying if I said I was sad. North Metro was a great start for Freedom, but God has bigger plans for this city, so Barber here we come. Barber is going to open up opportunities for growth in almost every way. I am really excited about all the production changes. I just got back from a two day trip where me, Ian, Tyler, and my dad spent 20+ hours building different elements for our stage and we’re not even done yet. It’s gonna be nuts. After we finish building tomorrow I’m gonna spend the rest of my “break” relaxing. Don’t miss the kick-off service at Barber at 10:30 this sunday. Be early!

Worship Set 12.28.08:

  • Sing Sing Sing- Tomlin
  • Glory To God- Fee (Tag: Shout Unto God- Hillsong United)
  • To Know Your Name- Hillsong
  • Revolution- Freedom Live

Merry Christmas!

December 25, 2008 at 12:40 pm (Uncategorized)

Merry Christmas to everyone! Last night was unbelievable at Freedom Church. I am so grateful for our awesome band and all the people who came together to make the Christmas Eve experience so great. I was especially excited about the opener and closer. Ian did an amazing job with the drum arrangement. As always, Pastor JR’s message was great. He always creates messages from angles that we’ve never heard. And finally, the closer with the cello and violin was pretty sweet. I’m sorry if you missed it, but I’ll try and put a few video clips up soon.

Christmas Eve Set List:

  • Little Drummer Boy- (with an unbelievable drum arrangement on snare, paint buckets, and full set)
  • All Creation Sing (Joy To The World)- Fee
  • Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree
  • O Holy Night
  • O Come Let Us Adore Him / How Great Is Our God
  • Carol Of The Bells- Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Step Into Your Role

December 23, 2008 at 9:26 am (Uncategorized)

Week after week at Freedom we celebrate people far from God experiencing life in Christ. I want to speak to the partners and say that God is using you to make that happen. I think it’s easy for each of us to downplay our roles. Every time Pastor JR gives an invitation and tons of people get saved my heart celebrates. First, because that person came to Freedom on their way to hell and are now spending eternity in heaven. Second, because I’ve learned to take joy in knowing that God used me to make that happen. Was I the one that literally led them to receive Christ, no. But, I know that God used me to lead distraction free, spirit led worship, which opened their hearts to be sensitive to God speaking through Pastor.

You as partners are doing the same thing. If a guests has a bad first impression with a greeter, then they will be closed off for the rest of the day. If a parent doesn’t feel comfortable after they drop their kids off, then they’ll be worrying about their kids and not hearing from God. If they have a great experience, then their hearts are open. No matter what what capacity you serve in, God will use you to make an impact on someone’s life and they will be open to hearing from God because of their great experience. Next time someone experiences life in Christ when you were serving, take joy in the fact that God used you to make that happen.

2 Year Anniversary

December 16, 2008 at 7:40 am (Uncategorized)

blakeandem

Two years ago I married the love of my life and my high school sweetheart. It feels so much longer than 2 years because we dated for 6 years before getting married. We get to celebrate our anniversary this week by going to the doctor to find out the gender of our first baby.

Emily, I love you so much more than any words can describe. You are such an amazing woman of God and I feel incredibly blessed to be your husband. Thank you for always loving me unconditionally and supporting me in everything I do. I love sharing life with you, laughing uncontrollably with you, and experiencing new things with you. I can’t wait to see you become not only my wife, but the mother to our baby. I love you, I love you, I love you!

Busy Busy Busy

December 9, 2008 at 9:23 pm (Uncategorized)

Things around the Freedom offices have been absolutely insane for all of the staff. I haven’t had time to even read blogs, much less write one so I’ll give a little update. For those of you who haven’t heard, we are officially moving to Barber on January 4th. I am so excited about this move because it will help us further the vision of Freedom Church. Here’s some of the things happening around the office:

  • upgrading a TON with audio, video, and lighting for the move. I can’t even begin to describe how amazing it will be. You’ll just have to be there to hear it , see it, and FEEL it.
  • Bikes or Bust starts next monday night. There will be the biggest variety of elements at this event. Everything from Santa, to school choirs, to dance teams, to camels. Yes, Camels in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Most importantly, kids will have a great Christmas because of this event. You can help, so don’t miss out.
  • Christmas Eve is going to be ridiculous! Some of the guys were practicing for the opener today and it is going to rock.
  • Heading to Newspring on Thursday with some of the staff.
  • All of this mixed together with the normal work load, Christmas shopping, and family events makes for a great holiday season. I love what I do.

Here’s Your Sign

December 2, 2008 at 11:00 pm (Uncategorized)

Last weekend I looked up in the sky and saw this. I guess sometimes God does write it in the sky. He was flying a pretty sweet plane too.
