There are no words that I can type to describe what God did yesterday. We celebrated our 1 year anniversary as a church and it was unreal to see how far God has brought us in such a short amount of time. It was one of those moments where I was so humbled by just being a part of the movement. 

Freedom was rockin out and the energy was the highest I’ve ever seen it. Because it was our 1 year anniversary I scheduled 8 band members. Playing with 4 guitarists was ridiculously awesome. To top it all off we had a little surprise for our people. The North Cobb HS step team performed and the place was bumping. It’s not every sunday you see people break dancing down the aisle to “Walk It Out.” 

What excites the most is that sunday was just a taste of what is going to happen. This city hasn’t seen anything yet!

Freedom was rockin’ on sunday. It’s always a good day when we get the chance to do some Bon Jovi. I was able to get a hold of a 12 string for this song, which sounded awesome. Malorie sounded amazing on “Lead Me To The Cross.” That was her first time leading a song at Freedom and it will not be the last.

Pastor’s message yesterday was in the face and dead on. We need people who are not just “for us,” but who are “with us.” I already can’t wait for next sunday!

There’s an expression in the rock world where songs will be described as “face melters.” Sunday morning that is exactly what happened with the opener. Guitarist, Ben Calhoun, shredded “Eruption” flawlessly. The day only got better as yet again, people far from God got to experience life in Christ. We are continuously amazed and grateful for God moving through Freedom. 

One of the greatest moments of worship for me on sunday was when we sang the tag “You Are Here (The Same Power)” by Hillsong. The lyrics were almost verbatim to what Pastor JR was challenging our church with. It says:

“The same power that conquered the grace lives in me. Your love that rescued the earth lives in me.”

I can hardly wrap my mind around the truth of that statement. We have the tendency to feel so limited and uncapable, but we need to have the confidence that the same power that raised Jesus is living in us and we can take on the world with that power. Nothing can stop us! That’s why these unheard of things are occurring at Freedom Church week after week. It’s because of a power so much greater than us. It can only be explained by the power of God!

I’m gonna go a different direction than most people with my New Year’s Resolution. I’m going to try and gain about 10 pounds. Don’t get mad if you’re trying to lose weight. I think that is incredible! The weight I’m trying to put on is muscle. One of my passions is working out and I figure if I publicize my goal then I will push myself to no end to  accomplish it. I’ve already started feeling a little nauseous from hitting the weights so hard, so hopefully it won’t take long. By the way, I’m still waiting on a work-out partner. I’m doing it with or without you, but I’d love for you to join up so give me a shout.

All I can say about sunday is wow! We kicked off the “Dominate” series at Barber, our new temporary facility. You can see from the pictures that we’re able to take set design, production, audio and every other element to the next level. We opened the service in Freedom style with “We Will Rock You.” It’s pretty fitting for the city of Acworth because that’s what is about to happen. We are going to rock this city.  It was an incredible morning of worship and the energy was kicking. Most importantly, lives were changed and people accepted Christ. I’m pumped about 2009!
